What Would You Do? The right candidate will be the initial contact for guests when they call or come into the Parts Department and is responsible for assisting guests with locating the appropriate part, giving them pricing, and handling payment. This person is responsible for ordering parts the shop needs, assisting techs with any questions they may have, and cultivating a positive culture and work environment that aligns with the organization's mission and values.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Assists customers with returns, selecting required parts, suggests companion requirements, offers specials, and ensures the customer is exposed to the full product line.
  • Pulls purchased parts from stock, and if part(s) is unavailable, determines availability and submits appropriate order if requested by the customer.
  • Answers phone calls, establishes good working relationships with customers, responds to questions, provides price quotes and advises them on warranty repairs and alternatives to expensive work.
  • Assists outside sales representatives with their orders as assigned/needed.
  • Verifies "will call" and "back-order" files each week and returns to vendors or stocks those items not required.
  • Maintains Customer Satisfaction Index rating at company goal or at least comparable to that of the manufacturer, zone, or regional average.
  • Ensures that all parts-related documents are accounted for and obtains complete and accurate customer and vehicle data.
  • Gives all customers fair estimates on costs and time required; calls customers to inform them of changes in order, pick-up time, and updates them on progress when not on time.
  • Properly and completely processes payments and all accompanying paperwork.
  • Advises customers about warranty protections and/or potential cost savings.

Do you have the necessary education and experience?

  • High school degree or equivalent, automotive trade school preferred.
  • 1 year experience in Dealership Parts required, five-plus years of progressive experience in auto parts service preferred.
