What Would You Do? The Service Advisor Apprentice supports the service department by assisting experienced Service Advisors, the warranty clerk, and the rental desk team. This role is designed to be an entry point for individuals interested in building a long-term career in the automotive industry, specifically in service advising and customer care.
The Apprentice plays a key part in delivering a positive customer experience by learning service intake processes, supporting repair order creation, and handling rental and warranty-related duties. This hands-on role provides training, exposure to dealership systems, and mentoring opportunities with experienced advisors and managers.
What will you be responsible for?
Customer Support & Service Intake
- Greet customers and assist with initial vehicle intake, including collecting vehicle and contact information.
- Prepare repair orders under the guidance of a Service Advisor.
- Communicate vehicle status updates to customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with answering service department phone calls and returning voicemails.
- Create and manage rental agreements in accordance with company policy and insurance requirements.
- Review rental terms, rates, and service charges with customers to ensure clear understanding.
- Perform walk-around inspections and document vehicle condition prior to rental.
- Collect payment and process returns, ensuring accurate billing.
- Assist the warranty clerk in submitting warranty claims, particularly for GM warranty submissions.
- Help verify repair documentation and gather necessary information for processing claims.
- Collect and file required documents for audits or claim validations.
- Shadow Service Advisors and Technicians to build understanding of basic vehicle systems and repair timelines.
- Participate in dealership or manufacturer-provided training as required.
- Take initiative to understand scheduling, upselling, and customer follow-up processes.
Do you have the necessary education and experience?
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Bilingual skills (especially Spanish) .
- Prior retail, rental, or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
- Interest in the automotive field and a desire to grow into a Service Advisor role.
